Getting Here & Getting Around

Whether by car, air, bus or boat, the trip to Eureka is always scenic.
Many local hotels offer shuttle services, and taxis and rideshare services are available. If you’re not bringing your own vehicle, scheduling ahead of time is recommended.

From San Francisco: Hop on Highway 101 and head north. After about 4.5 hours of wine country, farms, and redwoods, you'll reach Eureka.

From Sacramento: Drive up I-5, then to Highway 299, winding along the Trinity River until you reach the coast and Highway 101 South.

From Oregon: if you’re on the coast, take 101 South until you reach Eureka. If you’re in the middle, take I-5 to Highway 199 until you reach 101. Continue south.

From San Francisco: Take the San Joaquins train to Martinez, then hop on the route 7 bus to Eureka. The bus stop in Eureka is at 6th and C Street. The total travel time on Amtrack from San Francisco is between 8 and 9 hours.

The route 7 bus also offers city-to-city connections with 17 other stops along the Route – a convenient option for travelers near and far.

Humboldt County Airport (ACV) is located a quick 25-minute drive north of Eureka. ACV is serviced by United and Avelo. To and from ACV, you can catch a direct flight from multiple locations: San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), Burbank (BUR) and Denver (DEN).

Once you’ve arrived, you can rent a car or request a pickup through Door to Door Airporter.

To get to Eureka from the ocean, cross the Humboldt Bay Bar on a slack tide when the ocean is calm. The channels are clearly marked and there are always spots at the public docks for visitors to tie up and relax.

Sailing in? Visit the Humboldt Yacht Club, an active non-profit group promoting recreational boating on Humboldt Bay since 1938.

Eureka’s Old Town and downtown are easy to navigate by car. Two hour parking is ample, and most places of interest are in short walking distance

Eureka Transit serves regular stops in downtown Eureka, Bayview, Pine Hill, Bayshore Mall, and Harris St.
