Eureka’s Sequoia Park for the 25th Movies in the Park free outdoor movie screening

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission invites you to come to Eureka’s Sequoia Park for the 25th Movies in the Park free outdoor movie screening.

E.T.: The Extraterrestrial (1982), which features local Redwood Region filming locations, will be the first film of our 7th season.

'After a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and his little sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore), and the children decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien.'

The free event starts at 7:30 PM with music, continues with cartoons, and the feature film starting at dusk, around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 at 3600 W Street in Eureka.

The public is encouraged to dress warmly and arrive at 7:30 PM to enjoy music and find a place on the lawn for blankets and lawn chairs. Popcorn, candy, and refreshments will be available by donation.

There will be an information table set up on site with Film Commission volunteers answering questions about the non-profit organization’s mission of promoting film in the Redwood Region and the services offered to film productions.

The other dates of the season will occur on June 29 with (TBD), July 20 with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and August 17 with Captain Marvel.

Dustbowl Revival & Hot Club of Cowtown

Arkley Center for the Performing Arts, Eureka

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Band

Taking equal parts inspiration from Django Reinhardt’s gypsy jazz and the western swing of Bob Wills, Hot Club of Cowtown have shared the stage with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and the Avett Brothers. Named Best Live Band in Los Angeles (LA Weekly), Dustbowl Revival blends Stax era soul and New Orleans jazz in raucous, upbeat performances. This distinctive double-bill honors the legacy of the influential Canadian group The Band, with each ensemble reinterpreting songs from The Band’s classic albums in their own inimitable styles.
