Following the Rhododendron Parade celebrate the 35th annual DOLBEER DONKEY DAYS

Special activities, the Humboldt State Logging Sports team will demonstrate logging skills on Saturday. Free Historic train rides will be provided and THA Museum Store will be open both days. A fun way to learn about the logging experience with historical reenactments from various periods, steam donkey displays and FREE TRAIN RIDES with our local 1884 Falk and 1892 Bear Harbor steam locomotives.

The steam donkey was invented by Eureka mill owner John Dolbeer. It was used to move logs from the woods to the mill site. Members of the Timber Heritage Association will be on hand to steam up the historic Falk shay locomotive and provide free train rides. The Falk was used in logging operations near the long-gone town of Falk at the headwaters of the Elk River.
